WOOD TURNING WORKSHOP - 5-8:30PM. Chestnut Creek School of the Arts, Woodworking studio at 107 W Oldtown St, Galax. Ages 16+. This two-part workshop is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday this week. Tuition is $119. For more information: Wood Turning Workshop

Wednesday, February 18

TEEN COLD CASE - 6 - 8PM. Galax Public Library This program is for teens, ages 13-17, interested in putting their detective skills to work!

Thursday, February 19

YOUTH BOOK CLUB - 4 - 5PM. Carroll County Public Libary. This program is for ages 8-12. The current book can be picked up at the circulation desk of the hosting library.

FUSED GLASS EARRINGS WORKSHOP - 1 - 3PM Chestnut Creek School of the Arts, 100 N Main Street, Galax. Ages 16+ Join Nancy and Linda for this great opportunity to make 2 pairs of dichroic fused glass earrings. Delve into the wonder that is dichroic glass. All supplies included for 2 pairs of earrings. MINI RECYCLED NOTEBOOKS BOOK BINDING - 4-6PM. Chestnut Creek School of the Arts, 100 N. Main Street, Galax. Ages 12+ Learn the basics of book binding in this introductory class. No experience necessary and all supplies are provided. Register here: Mini Recycled Notebooks Tuition is $28.

READ WITH A RANGER - 10:30-11:30 AM. Carroll County Public Library. This program is for little kids. Join a Ranger for stories, crafts, and fun facts about our local state parks.

BEGINNING DRAWING - Noon - 3PM Chestnut Creek School of the Arts, 100 N Main Street, Galax. Ages 12+ Learn new drawing techniques in a beginner-friendly atmosphere. Students will experiment with pencils, charcoal, and sharpies, as well as, practice the techniques of blind contour drawing and positive/negative space. Drawings will be practiced from life.Register here: Beginning Drawing. Tuition is $38.

Saturday, February 21

Mount Roger's Winter Naturalist Rally - 8AM-5PM. Blue Ridge Discovery Center, 6402 Whitetop Road, Troutdale. Brave the wintry weather and plan to join us at the Blue Ridge Discovery Center on Saturday, February 21, for a full day of seasonal activities and family fun! Drop Spindle Spinning - 9:30 - 11:00AM. Chestnut Creek School for the Arts. 100 N. Main Street, Galax. Ages 10+ Have you ever wanted to spin your own wool? Wood Turning Demo - 10 - 11:30AM. Chestnut Creek School for the Arts. Woodworking studio at 107 W Oldtown St, Galax. Ages 16+ This wood turning demonstration is for those interested in taking the Introduction to Wood Turning Classes.

Beginning Watercolor Painting - 11AM - 2PM. Chestnut Creek School for the Arts. 100 N. Main Street, Galax. Ages 15+ Students will be provided basic knowledge to help them be successful in learning and advancing their watercolor painting skills. Class will include skills exercises, resulting in reference material. Students will then pain a simple landscape using these skills. Class will include take home reference material. $43.
